How do we make custom suits at Hussars?
To understand how we make custom suits in our offices in the Salamanca district of Madrid, we first need to understand the different ways a custom suit is made.
The first way is to have a completely handmade custom-made suit made by a tailor . What does this mean? Well, the tailor will take our measurements and create the suit from scratch. This has some advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of having a custom-made suit made by a tailor is that it's completely handmade . The disadvantages are, on the one hand, that it's much more expensive and takes much longer . While a suit like the Hussars' can be made in four weeks, handmade suits made by a tailor take at least two months. In addition, many more fittings and visits to the tailor are required, as the suit must be shaped and adjusted.
The other way, and the way we do it at Hussars , is through an industrial-made custom suit. We know the word "industrial" doesn't sound too nice, but the reality is different. The difference is that to make an industrial-made custom suit, we use samples. That is, we use an already created suit to take the measurements. This way , it's much faster to create the custom suit , since there's already a base.

The fact that it's faster to make has, in addition to the advantage of time, a cost advantage. Generally speaking, a custom-made suit made through an industrial process is cheaper than a handmade one, as it involves many more steps and requires many more appointments between the client and tailor.
But be careful, the industrial custom suit can be 100% customized. That is, you can choose fabrics, colors, pockets, or any other customization you want.
Fabrics and prices of a custom-made suit: is it expensive or cheap?

As we mentioned, at Hussars you can fully customize your custom suit and make it your own. We stock fabrics from the leading Italian and British fashion houses, so you can choose the one you like best.
Likewise, you can create the suit to your liking. For example, with one button, two, three, a double-breasted jacket... however you want it. The idea is that, even though our expert Vlad advises you, you'll create the suit with the style you like. So, maybe you'd like help choosing the suit cut, but you're sure you want wide lapels, well, we can do it that way without a problem. Although we're not a tailor in the strictest sense of the word, we can make the suit of your dreams.
The price for a custom-made two-piece suit is 650 euros, with fabrics from prestigious brands such as Vitale Barberis and Guabello, among others. If you require even higher-quality fabrics or special customization, the price may increase.
If you also want a vest, it costs 90 euros. And if you want to add a custom-made shirt , the price is 85 euros.
And what does all this include? Well, as we said, top-quality fabrics, a first appointment to take measurements, a second appointment for fitting if necessary, and a third for delivery and final fitting. Plus, we work with the best factories, and instead of outsourcing production to China, like many brands, we manufacture in Portugal.
How long does it take to make a custom-made suit?
Generally, the minimum time to create a custom suit is 4 to 5 weeks. However, since these garments are made specifically for you, it's usually advisable to do so more in advance. This way, we can ensure that it arrives on time and, if any adjustments are necessary, they won't be a problem.
As for the number of appointments required, an initial measurement is sufficient. This process usually takes between half an hour and an hour. However, if you want to be absolutely certain that the suit will fit perfectly, you can have a fitting once the suit is made to see if any alterations or corrections are necessary. In other words, one visit is enough to make the suit, but if you can come twice, that's ideal.
What experience do we have making custom suits?

In addition to his own experience making suits for clients at Hussars, Vladyslav Marcos Nagay, our brand's custom suit maker, has worked in London for stores like Paul Smith, making suits for the most demanding clients. He was also in charge of the custom suit department at Massimo Dutti in England, so his experience and results are the best testament to his skill. Vlad is joined by Roberto, who has many years of experience making suits at Prats.

At Hussars, we do use witnesses. That is, when you come to our fitting room, you'll try on a suit that serves as a witness for taking measurements.
In the case of an artisan tailor, your suit will be created from scratch. This is the beauty of creating something from scratch. The less beautiful part is that it's more expensive and takes much longer.
